Description

Anteriorly, the inferior medial genicular vein courses along the medial aspect of the knee, skirting the proximal tibia just inferior to the medial femoral condyle and deep to the pes anserinus tendons. From this angle the patella sits centrally and anterior, while the distal femur lies superior and the proximal tibia inferior, with the fibular head remaining lateral and less dominant. Medial venous channels and small venules form a periarticular network around the joint line, with the highlighted vessel tracking toward the popliteal venous system posteriorly through the capsular and periosteal planes.
