Description
Centered on the lower eyelid in anterior view, the inferior palpebral arterial arch forms a gentle curve within the palpebral tissues just inferior to the palpebral fissure, tracking parallel to the lid margin. Medially it aligns toward the region of the medial canthus, where branches from the ophthalmic artery (via the medial palpebral arteries) anastomose with lateral contributions. A larger facial arterial network is also visible over the midface, with the facial artery ascending along the lateral nose toward the angular artery, while the superficial temporal artery courses superiorly in the temporal region. Skull landmarks remain readable beneath the vascular overlay, including the orbital margins, nasal aperture, maxilla, and dentition. Appreciating this arterial arcade matters when teaching eyelid vascular territories and when planning lower lid procedures, where thin skin and tight planes make hemostasis unforgiving.
