Arising from the facial artery near the nasolabial region, the lateral nasal artery courses superiorly along the lateral wall of the nose at the cheek to nasal junction, running anterior to the maxilla and inferior to the medial orbital rim. From a left lateral view, the vessel sits superficial to the nasal bones and alar cartilages in life, with neighboring branches of the angular artery ascending toward the medial canthus and small alar branches turning medially toward the nostril.
