Description
Frontal and superior aspects of the adult male head are rendered with the cerebral hemispheres exposed, their gyri and sulci forming the dominant surface relief. Over the convexity, superficial cerebral veins (blue) course within the pia and bridge toward the superior sagittal sinus along the midline, while arterial channels track in parallel patterns where they reach the pial surface. Cranial nerve elements (red and yellow) converge toward the brainstem inferiorly, with clustered ganglia positioned along expected routes of the trigeminal and lower cranial nerves. Spatially, venous drainage trends from lateral cortical surfaces medially and superiorly, while nerve bundles descend inferiorly toward the foramen magnum and cervical continuation. Neurovascular relationships on the cortical surface matter when you are teaching why bleeding patterns follow anatomy, and when you are planning approaches that traverse dura and bridging veins. Rupture of a cortical bridging vein can produce a subdural hematoma with characteristic crescentic spread, and the illustration’s emphasis on venous pathways helps clarify why these injuries correlate with acceleration and deceleration forces.
