Centered on the distal lower limb, the illustration traces the arterial inflow from the anterior tibial artery into the dorsalis pedis artery on the dorsum of the foot and from the posterior tibial artery into the medial and lateral plantar arteries on the sole, where they anastomose as the plantar (pedal) arterial arch. Metatarsal and digital arteries radiate distally from the arch toward the toes, while paired venae comitantes accompany the deep arteries.
