Running within the substance of the upper lip, the superior labial vein courses horizontally beneath the vermilion border and orbicularis oris, collecting small venules from the philtrum and adjacent labial tissues. Medially it approaches the midline near the frenulum and septal region, while laterally it turns superiorly toward the nasolabial fold to join the angular vein at the medial canthus, continuing into the facial venous network. Surrounding landmarks include the maxilla and anterior dentition deep to the lip, the nasal aperture superiorly, and the external jugular and internal jugular veins descending in the anterolateral neck. Color coding differentiates the facial arteries and carotid system from the superficial and deep venous drainage pathways. A tight, anterior roadmap.
