Rounded human B-lymphocyte is rendered as a spherical to slightly irregular leukocyte with a thin, translucent plasma membrane outlining a modest rim of cytoplasm around a dominant, dark-staining nucleus. The nucleus occupies most of the cell volume, consistent with a resting small lymphocyte, while the peripheral cytoplasm forms a narrow, lighter halo just deep to the membrane. Subtle membrane contouring implies deformability as the cell navigates blood and lymphatic microenvironments. B-cell morphology matters when you are teaching or interpreting blood and lymphoid tissue preparations, because the classic high nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio helps separate lymphocytes from granulocytes and monocytes, and helps distinguish resting B-lymphocytes from terminally differentiated plasma cells. That distinction has direct clinical weight in hematopathology: reactive lymphocytosis, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and many B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas can present with populations of small, mature-appearing lymphocytes, while plasma cell myeloma shifts toward an eccentric nucleus, basophilic cytoplasm, and a perinuclear hof. One cell, many diagnoses. Use this asset in immunology and histology curricula when introducing leukocyte classes, antigen-driven activation, and the B-cell to plasma cell continuum, or in medical publishing as a clean, isolated figure for chapters on adaptive immunity and antibody production. It also fits patient-facing materials that need a faithful, non-anthropomorphic B-cell visual to accompany discussions of vaccination, monoclonal antibodies, or B-cell depleting therapies such as anti-CD20 agents.
