Shown in lateral profile, the shoulder cap is defined by the deltoid investing fascia as it envelopes the deltoid muscle from its proximal attachments on the lateral third of the clavicle, acromion, and spine of the scapula to its distal convergence near the deltoid tuberosity of the humerus. Anterior to the deltoid, the lateral border of pectoralis major and the proximal biceps brachii contour the anterior arm, while superiorly the fascia relates to the trapezius and the acromial region at the apex of the shoulder.
