Description
Positioned on the medial thigh but presented from a lateral perspective, the adductor longus is shown as a superficial triangular muscle belly with a proximal tendon arising from the body of the pubis just inferior to the pubic crest and adjacent to the pubic symphysis. Its fibers course inferolaterally toward the femur, terminating on the middle third of the linea aspera, lying superior to the deeper adductor brevis and anterior to adductor magnus. Surrounding skeletal landmarks include the ilium, ischium, and sacrum forming the pelvis, the acetabulum articulating with the femoral head, and the proximal femur continuing distally toward the knee with the patella visible anteriorly. Because the hip is shown with the pelvic ring and proximal femur in profile, this view helps teach how adductor longus relates to the anterior hip and proximal thigh rather than being buried in a purely medial compartment diagram.
