Description
Seen from a lateral perspective, the right upper limb skeleton is rendered from the scapula through the phalanges, with the humerus descending to the elbow where the lateral epicondyle sits proximal and slightly posterior to the radial head. The radius occupies the lateral (thumb) side of the forearm, its head articulating with the capitulum and its shaft running distal to the carpal row, while the ulna tracks medial to it toward the ulnar styloid. Proximally, the scapula forms the glenoid cavity for the humeral head, placing the shoulder joint superior to the arm’s long axis. Lateral views like this clarify the bony landmarks that guide both examination and operative corridors around the elbow.
