At the elbow, the ulna’s olecranon process projects posteriorly while the coronoid process lies anteriorly, bracketing the trochlear notch around the humeral trochlea; the radius remains lateral in anatomical position even though the view is medial, with its head and neck tucked against the ulna at the proximal radioulnar joint. Medial bony landmarks matter because they guide both diagnosis and approach at the elbow and forearm. Palpation of the medial epicondyle and the posterior edge of the olecranon helps frame assessment of elbow alignment after trauma, and these relationships are routinely referenced when judging supracondylar fractures or elbow dislocations on radiographs.
