Description
Positioned on the lateral aspect of a male knee, the inferolateral genicular nerve is traced as it approaches the joint line and courses across the outer, inferior quadrant of the capsule. The distal femur and proximal tibia form the osseous framework, with the patella seen anterior to the femoral trochlea, its articular surface aligned with the patellofemoral joint. Blue articular cartilage caps the femoral condyle and tibial plateau, while the nerve path runs superficial to these articular surfaces and trends anteriorly toward the anterolateral capsule. Orientation stays lateral, keeping anterior structures to the viewer’s left and posterior structures to the right.
