Description
Oriented in posterior anatomical position, the J shaped stomach is seen with the fundus and proximal body to the viewer’s left and the pyloric antrum and pylorus to the right as it continues into the first part of the duodenum. Arterial supply tracks the curvatures: the left and right gastric arteries run along the lesser curvature on the posterior surface, while the left and right gastro-omental (gastroepiploic) arteries course along the greater curvature with short gastric arteries ascending to the fundus.
