Framed from a posterior perspective in an adult male, the popliteal artery courses through the popliteal fossa posterior to the distal femur and knee joint, then divides inferiorly into the anterior tibial artery and the tibioperoneal trunk. The posterior tibial artery descends in the deep posterior compartment along the posterior surface of the tibia, while the fibular (peroneal) artery runs more laterally, close to the fibula and deep to the soleus. Paired venae comitantes track alongside these arteries, and the tibia and fibula provide clear osseous landmarks down to the ankle region. Clean relationships. No guesswork.
