Description
Spanning the equatorial region of the globe, the vorticose (vortex) veins are traced anteriorly through a branching field of venules within the choroid that lies deep to the sclera. Radial tributaries converge toward several larger collector channels that course posteriorly, then exit the sclera obliquely as vortex veins. Anterior to this venous network, the cornea and white sclera frame a blue iris with visible stromal texture surrounding the central pupil. The cutaway half clarifies how the uveal vasculature sits internal to the fibrous tunic. Mapping the tributaries matters because the vortex system is the dominant outflow pathway for the choroid, and its segmental drainage pattern explains why some choroidal diseases respect quadrant boundaries.
