Viewed in lateral profile, the right hepatic lobe (lobus hepatis dexter) presents a broad, smoothly convex diaphragmatic surface (facies diaphragmatica) that sweeps superiorly to meet the undersurface of the right hemidiaphragm. The anterosuperior margin forms the acute inferior border (margo inferior) as it turns toward the anterior abdominal wall, while the posterior contour rounds toward the bare area where peritoneum reflects. Medially, the curvature implies the course toward the falciform ligament attachment, even though the left lobe and visceral surface are largely out of plane in this perspective. A lateral contour of the right liver is the view you want when teaching hepatic topography against the thoracoabdominal landmarks, because it tracks how the dome of the liver rises beneath the lower ribs and how respiratory excursion shifts that relationship. It also supports clinical discussions of subphrenic space anatomy and right pleural relations, where subphrenic abscess or reactive pleural effusion can follow infection or surgery in the right upper quadrant.
