Description
Oriented from a superior perspective, the illustration centers on the adult male liver beneath the right hemidiaphragm, its convex diaphragmatic surface conforming to the inner contour of the lower ribs. The hepatic parenchyma occupies the right upper quadrant, extending medially toward the epigastrium, with the left lobe tapering across the midline while the larger right lobe sits more lateral and inferior. Inferior to the hepatic margin, the gallbladder is highlighted in green on the visceral surface, continuous with the cystic duct and common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct. A translucent, x-ray style rendering keeps the ribcage and thoracic spine visible as positional landmarks, framing the liver’s relationship to the costal arch and vertebral column.
