Rendered in an x-ray style, the male liver occupies the right upper quadrant beneath the right hemidiaphragm, with its dome tucked deep to the lower ribs and its inferior margin sloping anteroinferiorly toward the costal margin. A lateral right-sided perspective places the hepatic parenchyma anterior to the vertebral column and inferior to the right lung base, while the ribcage arcs laterally and anteriorly to frame the organ.
