Anteriorly, the male liver occupies the right upper quadrant beneath the right costal margin, with the dome of the right lobe rising superiorly toward the diaphragm while the left lobe extends medially and leftward across the epigastrium. A subtle sagittal plane separation between right and left lobes is suggested along the line of the falciform ligament, aligning functionally with Cantlie’s line toward the gallbladder fossa and inferior vena cava. Overlying osseous landmarks, including the lower sternum, costal cartilages, and anterior ribs, frame the organ and clarify how much hepatic parenchyma lies protected deep to the thoracic cage.
