Description
Seen from an anterior perspective, an adult African male figure is rendered with the skin removed to expose superficial and selected intermediate muscles over the bony framework. Superiorly, the masseter and temporalis contour the mandible and temporal fossa, while the sternocleidomastoid runs obliquely from the mastoid process to the manubrium and medial clavicle, framing the anterior neck. Across the thorax, the pectoralis major spans from sternum and clavicle toward the proximal humerus, with serratus anterior digitations along the lateral ribs; inferiorly, the rectus abdominis and external oblique define the anterior abdominal wall over the costal margin and iliac crest. In the limbs, the deltoid caps the shoulder over the glenohumeral region, biceps brachii lies anterior to the humerus and brachialis, and the quadriceps femoris group occupies the anterior thigh, continuing distally into the patellar tendon toward the tibial tuberosity. For teaching topographic anatomy, this front-on dissection-style rendering helps anchor muscle bellies, tendons, and palpable bony landmarks in the same field, which is how clinicians examine patients. The relationships around the shoulder and groin matter in practice: the deltopectoral interval guides anterior shoulder approaches and cephalic vein access, and the inguinal ligament defines the boundary used when distinguishing inguinal from femoral hernias and planning femoral vascular access. Clear anterior knee anatomy also supports discussions of extensor mechanism injuries, including patellar tendinopathy and quadriceps tendon rupture. Use it in gross anatomy and kinesiology courses when introducing compartments and surface landmarks, or in textbooks and slide decks covering musculoskeletal examination of the chest, abdomen, and extremities. It also fits patient-facing education on muscle strain patterns and surgical approach orientation where a clean anterior map of muscles and bones is needed. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
