From a medial (ulnar) perspective, its fibers occupy the intermediate layer, superficial to flexor digitorum profundus and deep to the more superficial flexor-pronator mass near the common flexor origin. Distally, multiple tendons emerge, pass deep to the flexor retinaculum within the carpal tunnel, then course into the palm toward digits 2 through 5. Clear tendon trajectories.
