Description
Running along the medial plantar aspect of the right foot, the medial plantar vein is traced in relation to the plantar aponeurosis and the medial longitudinal arch, then followed proximally toward the tarsal tunnel to join the posterior tibial venae comitantes. From a dorsal viewpoint, the plantar venous channel is conceptually “seen through” the osseous and ligamentous framework, with the hallux and medial forefoot positioned inferiorly and the ankle region superiorly. Superficial drainage on the dorsum, including the dorsal venous arch and medial marginal veins that continue proximally toward the great saphenous vein, provides an anatomic counterpoint to the deeper plantar pathway.
