Description
Positioned in a lateral skull view, the maxilla with its alveolar process and the mandibular dentition sit inferior to the orbit and nasal cavity, while the mandible forms the dominant inferior contour from symphysis menti to the angle and ascending ramus. A unilateral fracture line is marked along the mandibular angle region, just posterior to the molar teeth, where the body transitions into the ramus and the coronoid and condylar processes rise superiorly toward the temporomandibular joint. Medial nasal structures, including the nasal septum and the conchae (turbinates), are visible through the lateral cutaway, with cranial sutures delineating the surrounding facial and neurocranial bones. Bone surface texture is rendered with realistic cortical detail. Mandibular angle fractures matter because this segment is mechanically vulnerable at the transition from horizontal body to vertical ramus, and the presence of an impacted third molar often weakens the bony cross section at the external oblique ridge.
