Description
Oriented on the palmar (anterior) aspect of the male hand, this illustration centers on the proximal commissural ligament spanning the deep base of an interdigital web space between adjacent digits. The band sits distal to the metacarpal heads and proximal to the bases of the proximal phalanges, crossing the volar side of the metacarpophalangeal region in a transverse direction. Flanking it, the metacarpals and phalanges provide bony reference points, with articular cartilage suggested by a subtle bluish-white tone at the joint margins. Spatially, the ligament lies superficial to the metacarpals but deep within the interdigital cleft, tethering the web as it transitions from palm to finger.
