Positioned in the left hypochondrium, the spleen sits deep to ribs 9 to 11 along the posterior-lateral thoracic wall, with its long axis tracking the line of the 10th rib. An anterior-oriented presentation still allows appreciation of the convex diaphragmatic surface facing superolaterally toward the diaphragm and pleura, and the visceral surface directed anteromedially toward the stomach and left kidney. Superior and inferior poles taper toward the diaphragm, while the anterior border and its typical notches mark the organ’s anterior margin. Skeletal landmarks, including the thoracic vertebrae and rib cage, frame the spleen’s relationship to the upper abdomen.
