Description
Oriented from an inferior aspect, the paired os coxae are shown with the left and right ilium, ischium, and pubis forming the pelvic ring, joined anteriorly at the pubic symphysis and posteriorly at the sacroiliac regions where the auricular surfaces would articulate with the sacrum. Each acetabulum sits laterally, with the lunate surface surrounding the acetabular fossa and the margins of the acetabular notch directed inferiorly. Medial to each acetabulum, the pubic body and inferior pubic ramus meet the ischial ramus to frame the obturator foramen, while the ischial tuberosity projects posteroinferiorly as a broad weight-bearing prominence. Clear asymmetry is absent. This is bilateral anatomy.
