Oriented from an inferior perspective, the white-rendered male heart presents the diaphragmatic surface of the ventricles with the coronary vasculature picked out in red against the myocardium. The posterior interventricular sulcus is a dominant landmark, typically carrying the posterior interventricular artery (posterior descending artery) toward the apex, while the coronary sinus and accompanying cardiac veins track transversely within the posterior atrioventricular (coronary) sulcus between atria and ventricles. Branches expected on this surface include the right coronary artery coursing rightward in the atrioventricular groove with right marginal supply along the acute margin, and the circumflex branch of the left coronary artery sweeping leftward toward obtuse marginal territory. Inferior coronary anatomy is where coronary dominance becomes visible in a way a superior or anterior view cannot, because the artery that reaches the crux cordis gives rise to the posterior interventricular artery and often supplies the atrioventricular node via the AV nodal branch. That distinction matters in inferior wall myocardial infarction patterns and in planning revascularization, since right coronary artery occlusion in right-dominant circulation can compromise the AV node and provoke bradyarrhythmias or varying degrees of heart block. Coronary artery bypass grafting and percutaneous coronary intervention discussions often hinge on these exact branches. Small names, large consequences.
