Giardia duodenalis (Giardia lamblia) appears as a teardrop shaped trophozoite with clear bilateral symmetry and a dorsoventrally flattened profile. Twin nuclei sit anteriorly, paired and roughly medial, creating the familiar “face” appearance, while longitudinal axonemes extend posteriorly toward the tapered caudal end.
