Description
Posterior surface anatomy of an adult Asian male is rendered with a transparent overlay that places the gallbladder (cholecyst) in context beneath the right costal margin, inferior to the right lobe of the liver. The fundus projects anteroinferiorly from the inferior hepatic surface, while the body and neck taper medially toward the porta hepatis where the cystic duct joins the common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct. Superiorly, the lower lobes of the lungs occupy the thoracic cavity, and inferiorly the intestines fill the abdominal cavity, clarifying how the biliary tract lies deep to the right upper quadrant of the back.
