Description
Anteriorly, the gallbladder (vesica biliaris) lies tucked against the visceral (inferior) surface of the right lobe of the liver, with its fundus projecting anteroinferiorly toward the anterior abdominal wall at the level of the right costal margin. The body of the gallbladder continues superiorly and medially into the neck, which narrows toward the cystic duct as it courses toward the porta hepatis to meet the common hepatic duct and form the common bile duct.
