Inferior and posterior to the cerebrum, the cerebellum sits in the posterior cranial fossa, its folia tighter and more uniform than the cortical convolutions above. The brainstem descends anteroinferior to the cerebellum toward the foramen magnum, while the cut cranial bones frame the encephalon, including the orbital margin anteriorly and the cranial base inferiorly. Spatial relationships are clear: cortex immediately deep to calvaria, posterior fossa contents tucked beneath the tentorial plane implied by the bony contours.
