Description
Posterior skeletal view centers the female thoracic spine (T1 to T12), highlighted to distinguish it from the cervical and lumbar segments. Each thoracic vertebra sits inferior to the one above, forming a gentle kyphotic curve, with spinous processes projecting posteriorly in a staggered midline column. Ribs articulate bilaterally with the thoracic vertebral bodies and transverse processes at the costovertebral and costotransverse joints, so the rib cage flares laterally from the spine while the scapulae and proximal humeri frame the upper thorax.
