Description
Centered on the sixth cervical vertebra (C6), the illustration emphasizes the relatively small vertebral body anteriorly and the large vertebral foramen posterior to it, bounded by the pedicles and laminae of the vertebral arch. Lateral to the body, the transverse processes project toward the transverse foramina, a key cervical landmark for the vertebral vessels, while the superior and inferior articular processes sit posterolaterally with their facets oriented to guide flexion and rotation. A short, typically bifid spinous process extends posteriorly in the midline. Adjacent intervertebral discs are shown between the vertebral bodies, clarifying segmental spacing at the C5 to C6 and C6 to C7 levels. C6 matters because it anchors several practical neck landmarks and is a frequent reference point in clinical anatomy.
