Zygomatic Branch of the Lacrimal Artery

Arising from the lacrimal artery in the superolateral orbit, the zygomatic branch courses anteriorly along the lateral orbital wall toward the zygomatic bone, traveling deep to the orbicularis oculi and adjacent to the lacrimal gland. From that orbital origin, it relates medially to the globe and its extraocular muscle cone, while remaining lateral to the optic nerve and ophthalmic artery as it approaches the zygomaticotemporal and zygomaticofacial foramina. Superficial facial layers frame the vascular pathway, including the temporalis over the temporal fossa, the masseter over the mandibular ramus, and the frontalis in the forehead. Small accompanying nerves are suggested along the same corridor, consistent with the zygomatic nerve branches that traverse the lateral orbit and emerge onto the cheek and temple.
