Removed calvaria exposes the dural venous network along the midline, dominated by the superior sagittal sinus coursing anteroposteriorly in the attached margin of the falx cerebri. Bridging veins from the cerebral hemispheres enter the sinus from the lateral aspect, while the cortical surface lies inferior to the dural reflections and the inner table of the frontal and parietal bones forms the superior boundary. Anteriorly, the sinus begins near the foramen cecum region and continues posteriorly toward the confluence of sinuses, with parasagittal venous channels suggested along both sides of the midline. Bone landmarks remain readable. Teeth and maxilla provide orientation in the three-quarter cranial view. This perspective matters because the superior sagittal sinus is the venous structure most often implicated in parasagittal extra-axial hemorrhage after trauma, where tearing of bridging veins produces an acute subdural hematoma that tracks along the convexity. It also frames the safe and unsafe corridors for parasagittal craniotomy, where burr holes placed too close to the midline risk sinus laceration and brisk venous bleeding, and where meningiomas arising from the falx or adjacent dura frequently invade or compress the sinus. Clear depiction of sinus position relative to calvarial margins and dural attachments supports surgical planning and teaching of intracranial venous drainage patterns. Neurosurgery and neuroanatomy courses use this kind of cranial cavity view to teach dural venous sinus anatomy alongside meningeal reflections, and it fits well in operative atlases discussing midline craniotomy, falcine approaches, and management of superior sagittal sinus injury.
