Description
Angled lateral visualization of the male cerebral hemispheric surface emphasizes the superficial venous drainage toward the midline and dural sinuses. Cortical veins course over the gyri and dive into sulci before converging superiorly on the superior sagittal sinus, while inferiorly directed channels track toward the transverse and sigmoid sinuses along the tentorial margin. Yellow cranial nerve elements are included as slender bundles emerging from the brainstem region, helping orient the venous anatomy relative to basal neurovascular landmarks. Spatially, venous tributaries on the convexity run superomedially, and deeper draining veins sit more medial and inferior as they approach the falx and tentorium. Surface venous anatomy is where intracranial bleeding patterns start to make sense. Bridging veins traversing the subdural space before entering the superior sagittal sinus are vulnerable to shear in acceleration injury, a key mechanism in subdural hematoma, and this lateral perspective clarifies why hemorrhage tracks over the convexity rather than following arterial territories.
