Each band courses parallel to the long axis of the bowel, spaced roughly 120 degrees apart around the circumference, with the haustra coli bulging between them while the sacculations are tethered at the tenial lines. From an anterior standpoint, taenia omentalis typically aligns with the greater omentum on the transverse colon, while taenia mesocolica tracks the mesenteric attachment and taenia libera lies opposite it.
