Description
Posterior view of an adult female figure renders the cardiovascular and nervous systems in tandem, with the heart positioned in the middle mediastinum and the great vessels projecting superiorly into the neck and laterally toward the upper limbs. Red arterial channels track from the thoracic aorta into the intercostal spaces and inferiorly as the abdominal aorta, then bifurcate into the common iliac and femoral distributions to the lower extremities, while blue venous pathways converge toward the superior and inferior venae cavae. Along the dorsal midline, the brainstem continues as the spinal cord within the vertebral canal, giving rise to paired spinal nerves that pass laterally as cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral nerves before forming the brachial and lumbosacral plexuses. Clear laterality. Pairing posterior vascular anatomy with the central and peripheral nervous system helps teach a common source of confusion in clinical practice: red-blue vessels and yellow-white nerves can occupy the same corridors but follow different rules at foramina, intermuscular septa, and plexus formation.
