Description
Oriented from the medial side of the male ankle and hindfoot, the medial malleolus of the tibia sits superior and medial to the talar trochlea, with the talar body positioned directly inferior to the tibial plafond. The medial tibiotalar ligament is presented as a deep band of the deltoid ligament complex, coursing from the medial malleolus to the medial aspect of the talus, spanning the medial gutter of the tibiotalar joint. Posterior and inferior to the talus, the calcaneus forms the heel, while the navicular lies distal to the talar head, continuing into the cuneiforms and metatarsals toward the toes. Bony landmarks stay clear.
