Description
Sectioned cranial bone exposes the temporal region and infratemporal fossa, with the temporal bone framing the lateral skull base and the mastoid process positioned posteroinferior to the external acoustic meatus. Blue overlays mark the lateral pterygoid and medial pterygoid muscles deep to the zygomatic arch, oriented from the sphenoid region toward the mandibular ramus and condylar neck, even though the mandible itself is absent. Medial to these muscles, the sphenoid contributes the pterygoid plates, while the pterygomaxillary area sits anteriorly and the tympanic and squamous parts of the temporal bone lie laterally.
