Description

Seen from the lateral aspect of the adult male brain, the cerebral hemisphere is rendered with clear gyri and sulci while the cerebellum sits posterior and inferior, tucked behind the brainstem. Medial temporal lobe anatomy is opened or selectively revealed so the hippocampus stands out in red along the floor of the inferior horn of the lateral ventricle, curving anteriorly toward the amygdaloid region. The choroid plexus is positioned immediately superior and medial to the hippocampal formation, draping along the choroidal fissure where tela choroidea and choroid plexus project into the ventricular system. Ventricular relationships matter here. A lateral ventricular emphasis gives you the clearest teaching correlation between cerebrospinal fluid production and the anatomy that clinicians navigate during intraventricular procedures. The choroid plexus is a frequent source of intraventricular hemorrhage in neonates and a substrate for choroid plexus papilloma, while the hippocampus is a surgical and radiologic landmark in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy and hippocampal sclerosis on MRI. That adjacency is not academic, it explains why ventricular enlargement, inflammation, or hemorrhage can distort medial temporal structures and influence memory symptoms. Use this artwork for neuroanatomy and neuroscience teaching blocks (ventricles, telencephalon, limbic system), for radiology primers that orient readers to the temporal horn, or for neurosurgical content on ventricular endoscopy and temporal lobe approaches that must respect hippocampal topography.
