Positioned along the posterolateral cervical spine, the intertransversarii cervicis appear as short, segmented muscle slips spanning adjacent cervical transverse processes from the mid cervical levels toward the cervicothoracic junction. A lateral skeletal context frames their relationship to the skull base superiorly, the cervical vertebral bodies and facet joints medially, and the first ribs and superior thoracic inlet inferiorly. Red highlights indicate the muscular bundles bridging between transverse process tubercles, while blue accents likely mark articular cartilage at the zygapophysial joints and other synovial interfaces. The clavicle and scapular spine sit anterolaterally, establishing the shoulder girdle as a distal reference. Fine detail matters here because the intertransversarii are often omitted or generalized in neck depictions, yet they are key local stabilizers and segmental positioners of the cervical spine during ipsilateral lateral flexion.
